Microphone Inputs

The MX2100 has 3 microphone inputs (MIC-1, MIC-2, and MIC-3) with 1/4” (6.25 mm) TRS connectors. The preamplifiers use the local feedback technique, which prevents saturation in the presence of high sound pressure levels (for example, a commentator shouting a goal).

Built-in Microphone

  • Electret microphone built into the front of the unit (MIC-4).
  • Allows going on-air even without external microphones.
  • Shares the level control with the line input and Bluetooth return.
MIC-4 is disabled if the USB connection (to a computer or charger) is used or if the line input is connected.
The MIC-4/LIN/Bluetooth control presents different signals depending on the operating scenario (see Console Operation).

Line Input

  • LIN-4: mono line input.
  • Accepts direct connection from headphone outputs of portable recorders, mobile phones, notebooks, tablets, etc.
  • A 1/8” stereo miniplug cable can be used, although in the console the ring (right channel) remains unconnected.
  • Shares level control with the built-in microphone (MIC-4) and the Bluetooth return.
If stereo equipment is connected, the input will use only one channel. The plug’s ring (right channel) remains unconnected in the console.

Program Output (Bal Out)

  • Balanced, mono output with TRS 1/8” connector.
  • Mix of signals: MIC-1, MIC-2, MIC-3/USB and MIC-4/LINE/Bluetooth.

Dynamic Processing

The PGM signal passes through a dynamic range compressor designed for human voice:
  • Controls peaks and prevents level differences.
  • Distortion‑free with no increase in background noise.
  • Compression indicated by two front‑panel LEDs.
This system allows interviews to be conducted with consistent levels, without requiring an audio operator. The PGM output can be used to:
  • Connect to portable digital recorders and obtain high‑quality recordings.
  • Send signal to studios via VHF/UHF radio link in high quality (30–15,000 Hz).

Headphone Outputs

  • Internal headphone signal distribution.
  • 3 outputs with 3.5 mm minijack connectors.
  • The mix sent to the headphones depends on the connection mode and work scenario (see Console Operation).

Audio USB

The MX2100 console was designed to simplify connection with laptops, enabling Internet streaming transmissions.
  • The USB connection handles both sends and returns of the signal with Studios.
  • A standard mini-USB to USB-A male cable is used.

Automatic Operating System Detection

When connecting the MX2100 to a computer running Windows 7/8/10, Linux, or OS-X:
  • The operating system detects the console and automatically installs the necessary drivers.
  • No additional drivers are required.
On Windows, the USB device is automatically configured as the default device.

Detected Devices

The console is identified as:
  • USB playback device (stereo out): the computer sends audio to the MX2100.
  • USB recording device (stereo in): the computer receives audio from the MX2100.

USB Power Supply

  • Internal rechargeable Ni-Cd battery.
  • Battery life: 16 hours of continuous use thanks to CMOS technology.
  • Automatic multi-voltage external USB charger (100–240 VAC) included.
  • Connection via USB-A to mini-USB cable.

Charging Time and Method

  • Time for full charge: ~12 hours.
  • Above that value, the charging current decreases and it can be left connected without risk.
  • Red LED (CHG) indicates charging in progress.
  • The LED remains lit while the unit is connected to the charger, even when powered off.
  • It can also be recharged by connecting it via USB to a computer.
